When the wolf calls, it calls from the arctic.  On this land, a couple, Ben and Angela, from the University of Alaska, come to record the actions of wildlife.  When not camping on the tundra, they stay in the home of Neomyrak, a wise Eskimo woman, who has a white wolf pup she names Qannik.  Johnny Tobuk , a village youth, tries to kill the wolf, and disrupts the lives of Neomyrak and Angela.

When The Wolf Calls is an account of comparisons and contrasts of human relations and animal behavior on the tundra.
Included in this story are in depth facts of fauna, flora, and the people who live above the Arctic Circle.

Also included are photographs donated by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.
