Orlando Stubbs lived with us in our home for several weeks. When he arrived, he was one of our wild patients. The first thing we notice about Orlando Stubbs was that he made no effort to struggle when we handled him, which made him seem almost tame. While in our care, Orlando Stubbs became one of several other wild birds and animals needing our attention. Before he was released, he was in the company of three Great Horned Owls, one baby owl, a Bald Eagle, a mink, an ermine, and a Goshawk with frozen feet.
Our goal was to return all these creatures back into the wilds. Even though that was what we worked toward, it always was hard to set them free after they had wormed their way into our hearts.
This book also contains a “Facts About Hawk Owls” page.
