At the end of one summer, our young daughter, Jan found a baby hare under a blueberry bush.  This story is about that hare.  She was so excited about what she had found, she said, “ Mom, I found a blueberry under a bunny bush,” instead of, “I found a bunny under a blueberry bush.”
Bunny lived in in our house.  He spent time in a cage when he first arrived, so that he could rest peacefully and not be disturbed by our dogs, cats, or us when we came and went about our daily business.  Several days after his arrival, he learned to lap milk from a saucer instead of drinking from a small doll’s bottle.
Bunny kept himself very clean by spending a lot of time grooming his fur, wiping his milk from his face with his tiny paws after he drank.
He spent the rest of that summer, all that fall, and winter with us.  We missed him a great deal when we returned him to the wilds the following spring.

This book also contains  a “Facts and information” page about Alaskan Hares.
